Yes, ice cream was in my future last night!  But, not just any ice cream – coconut milk ice cream!

The wonderful folks at Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss generously sent me 2 coupons for free samples of their ice cream.

I really love their products because they are vegan, organic, fair trade and made with ingredients that I can pronounce!

I picked up 2 pints when I was at Whole Foods this weekend.  It was really hard to pick the flavors because they all sound so delicious.  I saw Naked Coconut (which I have tried before), Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge, Dark Chocolate, Mint Galactica and Vanilla Island.

I decided to keep it simple and chose the Dark Chocolate and Mint Galactica.

Of course, I had to sample both when I got home!

First up, Dark Chocolate.

Ingredients: Organic Coconut Milk (Organic Coconut, Water, Guar Gum), Organic Agave Syrup, Organic Fair Trade Cocoa, Organic Fair Trade Vanilla Extract

This was awesome!  The chocolate definitely overpowered any coconut flavor that this could have had.  It was a little hard to get it out of the container, and definitely did not seem as creamy as ice cream is.  I love my ice cream, but want a healthier alternative other than Banana Softserve!

Looks were definitely deceiving here!  After letting it soften in the container for a minute or 2, I gave it a try and it was smooth, creamy, chocolatey and delicious!  I loved every bite of this.

Next up, Mint Galactica!

Ingredients: Organic Coconut Milk (Organic Coconut, Water, Guar Gum), Organic Agave Syrup, Organic Fair Trade Dark Chocolate (Organic Chocolate Liquor, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Vanilla), Organic Peppermint Extract, Organic Fair Trade Vanilla Extract

I had high expectations here, since mint chocolate chip is my all time favorite ice cream.  Well, this did not disappoint!  Once again, it was creamy and melted in my mouth.  The mint ice cream was good, but I could definitely taste a little coconut, which is fine with me because I love coconut.  It was a bit of an odd taste though, so if you aren’t sure about the coconut flavor, definitely go with one of the chocolate flavors.  The chocolate flakes were awesome.

Overall, I loved these and will definitely try some other flavors.  They are a great alternative to ice cream and a little healthier for you too.
