All I wanted this morning was oatmeal! In my new bowl. 🙂 I haven’t had oatmeal in what feels like weeks!
I started with my normal oatmeal base – oats, bananas and flax seed and worked from there.
In the mix today:
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup oatbran (this seems to make the mix creamier – sometimes I like it, sometimes I don’t)
- 1 medium banana
- 1 tbsp ground flaxmeal
- 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
Toppings
- 1 tbsp NUTTZO (so delicious and crunchy)
- 1 tbsp chocolate peanut butter
- sprinkle of maple granola
Oatmeal really does fill me up for hours. With all of my smoothies lately, I have been wanting a mid-morning snack, or have been ready for lunch by 11-11:30. Today, I was full right up until lunchtime.
Speaking of lunchtime…
I brought a variety of orange and green goodies today. Let’s find out what they were!
First up, a salad with spinach, carrots, chickpeas, almonds and hummus (as dressing).
Then, a leftover piece of Red Pepper, Arugula & Goat Cheese Pizza from last night.
Still really good!
Then, some fruit – Kumquats & Kiwi Berries!
It was a great mix! I know that I always seem to say that I love my lunches, but I really do. I try to find a variety of things and to change it up often, even if it is just a different topping for a salad. Eating the same thing everyday gets boring! I only ate a few of the pieces of fruit because I am stuffed – so they will resurface in a few hours, I am sure.
What are kiwi berries?
I picked these up at Whole Foods this week! No, they are not local, but I love kiwi’s and just needed to try these little guys. Kiwi berries are a small variety of kiwi fruit, about the size of a grape, that have a smooth, edible skin. They are fuzz-free, so can just be eaten as is (although, a lot of people do eat the fuzzy brown skin of a kiwi, I have never tried it!). They are super juicy, sweet and packed with flavor, Too bad this little package costs a whopping $4.99! A little ridiculous if you ask me, but I was happy to try them out once.
Kiwi berries are good for you too! They are rich in vitamin C, high in fiber and a great source of potassium, vitamin E and magnesium. I really liked them.
I’m planning to hit up the gym after work tonight to hit the weights, but I have trouble keeping up that motivation when I just want to get home for dinner and to do stuff around the house. Maybe if I let all of you know that I am going, it will make me stick to the plan!
See ya tonight!
