happy new year!

Happy New Year!

I cannot believe that another decade has ended and that we are on to 2010, but I am excited for this new year!

I am not usually one to make New Year’s Resolutions, but I decided that I needed some this year.  2010 is a big year for me – I am turning the big 3-0!  It is easy to forget about your new goals after all of the hype of the new year has ended.  In fact, I can only remember a few of my goals from the decade – and they all involve fitness goals.

2004 & 2005

Goal: Lose weight without a strict diet.  Make exercising and eating healthy a priority.

Outcome: I lost over 60 pounds between 2004 and 2005.

2006

Goal: Run a 5K & continue my exercise regime.

Outcome: I ran a 5k as part of a marathon relay with friends and loved it!

2007

Goal: Run a marathon.

Outcome: Ran the Chicago Marathon in October.

2008

Goal: Plan and stay in shape for my wedding!

Outcome: Wedding planning took precedent over everything this year, but I continued to stay healthy and happy!

2009

Goal: Run 1200 miles, and become a stronger runner.

Outcome: I ran 3 half marathons with PR’s in each, a marathon in 4:04, completed my first sprint triathlon and ran 1560 miles.

This year, I have a few more goals in mind.  By writing them down, there is no way that I will forget them in 2010!  So, here is goes:

2010 Goals

1. Run 2010 miles, continue to become a stronger runner by incorporating speedwork and races into training!

2. Eat more local foods, and continue to cook healthy meals.

3. Spend more time reading, and less time watching tv.

4. Save a percentage of my salary each month.

5. Stay positive and stop sweating the small stuff!!

Bring it on, 2010!
